did the swap down to 7.0, resolved the flicker issue, but there is still a couple icons missing on the side bar.
Specifically the big E is missing at the top left, and I'm going to guess this is what EP uses to determine that its progressed past the character selection screen?
It just selects the character, when the next screen loads, status says waiting for character selection screen, and the mouse is clicking on the bookmarks. After a few minutes it launches another eve client.

Also, had to hash out one of the vm detection options to get this version working. #monitor_control.disable_directexec = "TRUE" With this it enabled, everything ran at 100% cpu.

Update: I feel like such a n00b some days, I wasn't using vmtools as vmtools cannot detect its in a vm, but I was using the wddm driver from 7.1. I swapped the driver to the 7.0 version and viola! no flickers, perfect picture, all icons in place, and EP working fine.

I'm probably too stupid. where can I save the existing settings?
then what make it so I'm on the 7.0 version I have?

Before uninstalling vmware, log into the vm, uninstall vmtools from ad/remove programs. Shut down the vm.

On your host machine, uninstall vmware, when you uninstall, it will ask if you wish to save your settings/license info, just make sure they're checked.

Once uninstalled, install the 7.0 version. Once installed open your vm, and install vmtools. once vmtools is installed, make sure to modify the registry to hide the video driver again (EP should remind you if you forgot).

This issue was fixed in todays patch it seems. No longer getting any flickering in VMware 10

Verified with VMWare 7.1.
