Runs successfully, then I click Continue to start the looter bot and it opens EVE as if it never did a first run.... no settings are saved in the first run?

I am getting the same result.. I have tried first run for looting and it starts looping while trying to set the overview tabs. I tried using first run for Mining and get the same result.

Win 8, version 6.15.4.0

cippy, when you click continue make sure that your character is in correct position. Bot does not switch character position as it saved server side. If bot has a problem to save settings (e.g. due to some antivirus software), you cannot complete first run at all. I recommend to start bot as administrator or add evepilot to exception list in antivirus settings.

moot, do you rename overview presets? Last time there was a problem with custom preset names. Try to repeat first run with default settings. I will need to check log file in case of a problem (see a link in my signature how to record log file).

I agree with Slav2, may be your antivirus is stopping the bot, and to give a solution, you have to run in administrate mode.
