The mining starts off correctly each laser is mining a separate roid.

However, there are 2 circumstances when the lasers will change from 2 to 1 roid. Both occur when Ep stops either 1 or 2 lasers

Here they are:

1 - Ep stops 1 or 2 lasers, and the 2 roids have NOT popped. When the laser(s) restart they will only start mining the roid that is highlighted. The one that is not highlighted is ignored.

2 - Ep stops 1 or 2 lasers, and the roid that is NOT highlighted has not popped. The highlighted roid has popped. Ep will then lock and highlight a new roid and both lasers will only mine that one.

Do you think your laser yield may decrease over time? E.g. you had but lost ORCA bonuses. If no, need to check asteroid size/content formula. You can try to fit asteroid scanner and get data about asteroid content from scanner

again it starts out fine but when an asteroid pops the laser that was on it goes to the other asteroid that is left.

The fact that two lasers may mine from the same asteroid is by design. Asteroid has volume of ore, lasers have mining yield. When necessary both lasers will stop at the same time and asteroid will pop twice faster.

In your report I realized that when survey scanner not used and bot calculate ore content using empiric formula, bot may switch off laser but asteroid does not pop. If you lasers do not change mining amount (e.g. when using ORCA) bot may switch off lasers later, but not earlier then a time when asteroid should pop. So it is a time to check empiric formula.

You did not answer if you use ORCA and as a result your mining amount depends on ORCA buffs.

Not using an orca. I realize that the problems happen when I use mining drones. It seems to throw everything off.

Mining drones can reduce ore content, not increase. So lasers should pod asteroids at calculated time. Try to place bookmark near groups of asteroids, so when bot warps to asteroids it has several asteroids to apply lasers and drones to different targets.
