Why use VMware? To prevent any type of detection via processes running on your machine?

No, CCP make links between accounts if they were logged in from the same computer. If you create your bot under VMWare and never login with bot from outside of VMWare, you do not create link between main account and bot account. There is an idea that VMWare users banned more frequently, I recommend other ways to separate bot and main account. E.g. use separated computer for botting or install two OSs and make them different (define custom MAC address, use VPN, define different computer and user names etc.) and login under one or another OS when you need to play eve or bot.
