I've figured it out. I won't update prices when doing so would cut into the originally intended profit margin.

I think it wont cut/raise price when doing so results in a profit percentage below the number you have set.
Say you've got it set to sell item if profit greater than 2%.
All of a sudden, a competitor puts up a sell order that calculates out to be 1% profit (relative to the buy order price vs sell order price of that given moment, calculated for taxes)
The macro will then decide not to lower your items price, maintaining the price steady at just 2% of "profit" (again, relative to that given times buy orders vs sell orders).
One potential problem can occur when you buy an item at an earlier day, and then try to sell it multiple days later. The value of that item could have reduced, and naturally you could be selling for less profit than the bot thinks (even a loss, however rare). This is why keeping an eye on the average value of such item is important, and is one of the reasons slav always mentions to ensure you are buying items with 1-4 competitors.
