As far as I recogniced, the Courier Bot processes one Trade Storyline Mission after the other. This leads to additional travel to the home station for each needed Ore. In best case, the bot should figure out what the total amount of Ore needed is and pick this up once to fulfill all available/pending Trade Storyline Missions.
Did I oversee a configuration possibility for this?

If your courier have several missions in the same station and may pickup 2 cargos (subject to free cargohold volume), it will do this. Use Iteron V with T2 rigs to have 40000+m^3 of a cargohold volume.
