It looks like the issue is only with the validation on the input field. If I write the value to the file in notepad it seems to be ok.

Yes, this is algorithm editor validation bug. You, in principle, dont need algorithm editor to write algorithms.

I knocked up a small console app that will take the Eve Pilot algorithm and generate a graphml file or take a graphml file and generate an Eve Pilot algorithm file.

It is a little bit "as it comes" no warranties guarantees etc

usage:
EP -> graphml
Grapher.exe miner.txt [-e(to list an empty set of all modules as well)|-u(to list the unused modules as well)]

graphml -> EP
Grapher.exe miner.graphml

That is one application I always wanted to have but had no time to start. If it works I want to buy it to add to algorithm editor

If you wanted to alter/extend an existing algorithm these options will add either a complete set of or just the unused modules to be copied or added to the algorithm. You can then edit in yEd, delete the unused modules, save and convert back to your eve pilot format.

I know there are people using ORCA bots out there, probably custom addons with EP. I'll be happy to pay for one / pay to help develop one.
