With the current atmosphere about all the new posts I keep hearing about people getting banned right now might not be a good time.
However, I would strongly suggest you have non bot characters in the corp for practical reasons such as POS fuel ect. I'm a disabled lazy bum so I'm here in front of my second monitor pretty much all the time with the bot running. Last night in fact I noticed someone not only following me but entering warp at the same time. (another bot maybe?) So after three warps I paused the bot and yelled at him in local. I'm pretty sure most people in my system use bots when they are not actually online. Like this griever wana be pirate corp will be out mining with drones out and not chatting up in local like normal. (Roid Ripper, or Macro Miner)(I did my homework before I chose to use this program, just ask Slav2 about all the emails back and forth)
I have my bot set up to avoid everyone, NPCs and PCs. I am what I like to consider an ethical boter. I hate it when we are in a fleet and one just warps in and mines the roid one of us is currently mining. This is considered very rude in my systems. So basically ya I'm on all the time with the bot, but I stay out of peoples ways. I've only been doing this for a little while but no one has said boo who about my alt mining. My corp doesn't really report bots either cause we don't really care, they help keep the economy stable. Remember when trit blew up like the gas prices? I was buying for 1-2 isk each and selling for about 3-5 each.
Also I've set my guy up for 5 systems now and am thinking about expanding it because I'm in high sec and trying to stay out of peoples way.
Another thing I've always done since an alliance member told me about it is to look at the lowest sell price and the highest buy price and price your sell order in-between them but closer to the buyers price. Within a couple days your order should sell. I always set for max amount of time however and don't limit it to buying more then one.
Another idea is to use them in WHs where you're the only ones around, nessel yourself into a C6 WH corp with your alts. When people are on for guard duty load up your fleet and go to town on grav sites. Set them to warp out if a hostile enters the over view. Or maybe the Paladin Mod uses fleet chat (does it?) to issue commands, load up your cloaky watcher at the WH and fleet up, sit and watch, hostile enters fleet is told to go to POS till told otherwise. I mean who's really going to bitch if your in a WH?
And Slav2 I know I've posted this question before, but if memory serves right your program only manipulates the machine not the client or the server. So all you guys getting banned must have been spotted somehow. I've been researching up on the anti-bot movement and some people like us. The only ones who bitch are the people who don't understand how to make billions of isk without a bot. Mining, manufacturing, and a big alliance contact for orders. How do you think those PvP corps stay in business.
Sorry if I'm rambling guys but we have to put our heads together in one area. I suggest a forums area specifically for this type of discussion. And it should be locked to you and not visible unless you have an active license.
Slav2 I'm also going to look hard at the algorithms you use since I've watched my guy mine for so long and see if there are any behavior improvements we could maybe implement.
And if anyone is a hardcore coder, lets not just make a mining bot, but a god dam AI that can interact with players and send you and evemail to your main or something if it has a conflict or need actual human intervention. Like it can't understand something so it says stuff like, "crap the baby just puked on my computer desk, I'll be AFK." Then dock up and if you don't come save it from the human conflict its having then it logs off. Like if you had more RL stuff to do.
You got me rolling and this is my reply but I am also posting this as its own post because I think people need to read this and provide feedback.
So to sum up my rant and make it a little more coherent I'm going to go over bullet points so you all are following me:
-Bot corp is an iffy idea but has some merit
-Try mining ethically, I like to think we have a higher standard then most other Macro users
-If in high sec, should travel
-Sell smart and don't drown the market
-Think about where and how you mine
-Dev team make sure this program doesn't go against the EULA if possible
-We need a secure place to discuss how to keep Slav2 and us in business
-Can we make a smart bot AI
-This is posted in two places and I will be writing more detailed posts
Thanks for the brain storming session Searsy666
