I would like to see a summary of what was done and for how long at the end of a mining shift, either in a text file or pop up... how do I properly read the logs to gather this info?

If you're too lazy to log in with your bots... Evernus or TradeMaster... Free, and can combine characters.

thanks for those links, they look promising! i am more interested in amount mined in session, as well as session duration. I work long hours and when I leave for work the bot has not started yet due to timers, and when I get back from work the timers have already finished. so the question is, did it do any mining at all? and how much so I can compare data on a day by day basis

Does mining statistic work? You need to enable refining function to calc stats. Mining profitability part (right group of controls) is outdated after new refining rules applied and refining table changed. Update mineral prices may also not work, add prices manually in case of a problem. I made this statistics form years ago

the problem with that is when you refine it makes it harder to move the stuff depending on what you are piloting... do you recommend refining vs selling ore?

refining vs selling ore is difficult.

Easiest thing to do is to find a station that lets you compress your ore. If you can mine and bring all the ore there, then stack it with as much ore as you can, and either contract it to move to jita, or haul it there yourself.
