TOPIC: On-Grid Boosting

On-Grid Boosting 10 Years ago Karma: 16
See: twitter.com/CCP_Masterplan/status/766285161432506368 and the latest o7 show.

On-grid links will be coming entirely too soon. They are saying that they will be an area of effect focused on the booster, and will likely last several minutes. Therefore, the Booster bot will need to be modified:

Can the Booster bot be changed to behave in the following way: Booster starts, determines range and duration of boosts (saves range), joins fleet, warps to Selected Tank (could it use fleet chat to select the character to Warp To... them directly?), checks that it is in proximity of friendly ships (using previously saved range of boosts), enables boosts. Booster attempts to stay in range and keeps activating boosts after the duration lapses.

The biggest potential pitfall I see is that asteroid belts/anomalies are very large, and the miner bots do not put appear to put any consideration into their proximity to one another in the belt. What should the booster do if the miners are too far from each other for a single booster? Is there a way to make the miner bots stay within a certain range of one another?

Can this be done by Slav, the Algorithm Editor, or through AHK Scripts? I'd be willing to pay for the development if it's beyond the scope of my abilities.

Proximity would only matter if the boost range is less than 100-150. I'm waiting for the dev blog soon before panicking.

It should end up being a simple fix. If you keep it simple.
Every time miner returns to POS, have the Booster monitoring avoid ships. If he sees a green ship on avoid, fire boosts.

From what I was hearing, I am thinking they are going to do like, 15 minute boosts, or even 30 minute boosts. Taking clues from other games that have clerics/healers that have short term boosts, or perma boosts, as well as being a healer n stuff.

Ha! That's funny! Boosts will be a max of 2-3 minutes, according to the o7 show. If they lasted 15 minutes then it wouldn't fix the off grid boosting problem. No, they want all ships at locations.

Sounds like it is about to be on Sisi within 2 weeks.

They are making a new mining boost ship that is smaller, less expensive, and faster warping.
