Only a problem if you use crystals. Better to have the feature first and then worry about optimization.

I don't see the problem with crystals. You can fit 40 in the hold (which should last you over a week) and autoreload is on. If you were thinking about actually stripping the belts you would need 1 miner per type of ore. That is my plan.
