Also same problem.
It's something in the new launcher update. I let it update on a couple different VMs and now they have the same error and launcher won't open at all.

CCP may very well have baked in VM detection to the launcher.
I've had problems all day, after being fine last night.
I've tried rolling back the launcher to the previous version, it doesn't work, even though the update gives the option not to install it.
I've tried several different ideas across several VM's.
So I just spun up a fresh windows 10 VM in VirtualBox and it gives me an error when trying to login.
"There was an error while validating your account, please try again."
The account works on the Host machine.
I think that I've ruled everything out for VirtualBox.
Has anyone tried this in VMWare?
